Pockets of Joy

When I was 10, I was a Star Scout. We had a song that went “Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket; never let it fade away. Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket; save it for a rainy day.” So that’s why I try to do.

I try to find happiness in mundane things, and try to get back to these when I need to. Here are the first ten that come to mind. Most of them have to do with the sky and chocolates, because I am Jelle. Would love to know some of the things in your list. ❤️

  1. The way the sun makes the sea glitter in the morning
  2. The warm patches of sunlight on a cold morning
  3. The smell of chocolate-chip cookies as I take them out of the oven
  4. Burying myself under layers of blankets, and spending the day like that…alone
  5. Hot chocolate on a rainy day
  6. The first taste of chocolate cake
  7. The last piece of french fry
  8. Fireworks
  9. Stars
  10. Sunsets. ♦
